Dieting: Do you Know what Ketosis is?? HUBERMAN LAB PODCAST

Are you looking for a new way to jumpstart your weight loss journey?

Have you heard of the Fat Fasting Diet? Developed by Dr. Robert Atkins, the fat fasting diet is a short-term phase low-carbohydrate diet in which the dieter drastically reduces their carbohydrates and increases their fat intake in order to induce a metabolic state called ketosis.

Ketosis is a metabolic state in which the body burns fat for energy instead of carbohydrates. By increasing the amount of fat in the diet and limiting carbs, the body is encouraged to shift into ketosis more quickly, accelerating weight loss.

Summary:

Typically a 2-4 day fast

Eating between 1,000-1,200 calories

80%-90% of those calories should be from fat

Diet:

- Breakfast: Scrambled eggs with spinach and avocado, or Greek yogurt with berries and nuts

- Lunch: Grilled chicken breast with mixed vegetables or a salad with mixed greens, hard-boiled egg,

- Dinner: Grilled fish with sweet potato, or a vegetable stir-fry with tofu and brown rice.

It's important to note that while the fat fasting diet can be effective for weight loss, it's not suitable for everyone. It's essential to check with a healthcare professional before starting any new diet regimen.
